Faculty history |
In 1975, the Institute of Civil Engineering was established at the Częstochowa University of Technology as a faculty with two fields of study: civil engineering and environmental engineering. The Institute operated until 1984, when the Faculty of Civil Engineering was established in its place. In 1984, the Institute of Sanitary Engineering was established within the Faculty of Civil Engineering. In 1992, the name of the unit was changed to the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. During this period, the Faculty had independent departments reporting to the dean. In 1993, the Institute was reactivated and its name was changed to the Institute of Environmental Engineering.
In 1997, the Minister of National Education separated the Institute of Environmental Engineering from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering as an independent unit, which meant that the Institute's rights were equal to those of the Faculty, and in the same year transformed the Institute of Environmental Engineering into the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Protection. In 1998, by decision of the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Protection obtained the right to award the academic degree of doctor of technical sciences in the discipline of environmental engineering, and in 2002 it obtained the right to award the academic degree of habilitated doctor of technical sciences in the same discipline. In 2012, the Faculty was granted the right to award the academic degree of doctor of technical sciences in the discipline of energy. The expansion of the area of scientific and didactic activity of the Faculty resulted in the change of its name to the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology in 2012, and then in 2016 to the Faculty of Infrastructure and Environment.
Currently, the Faculty has the right to award the degree of habilitated doctor and doctor in the field of engineering and technical sciences in the scientific discipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy.
