The participants of the conference were welcomed by the Chair of the Scientific and Organizational Committee of the Conference, Prof. Maria Włodarczyk-Makuła, PhD, DSc, Eng.

The ceremonial opening of the conference was graced by Prof. Maria Mrówczyńska, PhD, DSc, Eng. (Deputy Minister, Ministry of Science and Higher Education), Dr. Marek Warzecha, PhD, DSc, Eng., Prof. of Czestochowa University of Technology (Rector of Czestochowa University of Technology), and Dr. Jurand Bień, PhD, DSc, Eng., Prof. of Czestochowa University of Technology (Dean of the Faculty of Infrastructure and Environment, Czestochowa University of Technology).

During the conference, speakers and participants will engage in discussions on the broad issue of micro-pollutants. Among the topics to be addressed during the proceedings are:

• the fate of microplastics in wastewater treatment plants,
• the toxicity of micro-pollutants and their impact on organisms,
• methods for detecting micro-pollutants in environmental and food samples,
• removal and degradation of micro-pollutants in various environmental matrices, from water to wastewater, sewage sludge, and sediment.

This year, in addition to the opportunity to exchange experiences among a wide group of scientists from leading research centers, we also have additional reasons to celebrate.

This year's edition of the conference is a jubilee one. It’s hard to believe that the conference is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and Professor Maria Włodarczyk-Makuła, PhD, DSc, Eng., without whom this conference would not exist, is marking her 40th year of scientific work.
